Paul James Saunders started his acting career in a theatre production of “Hair” at the Royal Alex Theatre in Toronto. He then moved to Los Angeles to perform in the theatre production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Aquarius Theatre. Paul was born in Toronto, and his grandfather owned The Bermuda Tavern on Yonge Street, so at a very young age he watched many live artists and shows. Paul started out as a drummer in a band and soon moved into the front as lead singer. Fast forwarding to the days of Yorkville, when the hippies and music collided as one in downtown Toronto, Paul was in what was then a popular band called Leather. At this time he was approached by the producers of the theatre production to perform in ʻHairʼ, the ʻ60ʼs theatre phenomenon that would change his life to this day. Many years in the business has taken Saunders to both sides of the camera and all aspects of the entertainment business. His success as an actor, writer and producer of many productions has had him working with companies such as Entrophen, Aleve, Robin Hood Flour, Energizer Batteries, Tim Hortonʼs, Adams-Cadbury and Itwal to name a few. Paul has also been the busiest voice over actor in Toronto for many years with Sony Pictures, Paramount, Warner Brothers, NBC, CBC, CBS, Castlerock and Fox. He has been in lead and supporting roles , for dozens of feature films, movies of the week and various television series in Toronto, Los Angeles and Montreal.

Most recently, in Los Angeles, Paul works with the script writers, co-starred in feature films: “Assisted Fishing” which won many awards at festivals across the US, tv series “Good Cops” and a feature film “Polanski” . In Montreal, Paul co-starred in the feature film “In The Bag” and “Alone with Mr. Carter” which was an award winning film at the Cannes festival.

In Toronto, Paul has been in “Transporters” a tv series on HBO, and feature films “And Now a Word From Our Sponsor” and “Saving Dinah” What advice would you give new artists about show business right now? “Follow your dream. Donʼt give up and always believe in yourself. Those ethics never change, even if the business does.”

Many years in show business and this truly amazing talent shows no sign of slowing down.
